Had the first major combat encounter of my stay in W-space yesterday. We were clearing out some kind of Sleeper command center, when three strategic cruisers decloaked on grid. Being a bit rusty as an FC I ordered the fleet to bail out the second they showed up rather than taking a second to evaluate how things were going.
turns out, had I kept my head a bit better, we would have slaughtered them. As it was, we didn't lose anything. Most of the fleet got out, the stratcruisers tackled Bob and I in our Basilisks and we... proceeded to tank them. Almost effortlessly. If we'd kept the firepower and warp disruption on field, those would have been at least one dead Loki.
So, a mistake made and an opportunity missed, but not an expensive mistake. You have to relish the cases where you can learn something, painlessly.
Save. End.
In the sky, we reach further. On the ground, we strike harder. But our ambitions are still mortal.

Journal: YC116.01.04
I spent the Solstice season back in highsec with family and friends.
Funny, really. Here we are, a civilization that spans thousands of star systems, and some of us still celebrate the solstice of one particular planet. But, it's a good tradition.
Of course, it does raise its moments of awkwardness. I met up with Pieter Tuulinen, shared some beers on the Jita 4-4 food court. It was a good chat but...
Well. he's happily married. And I'm married too.
To a woman I barely see or communicate with nowadays.
Not even over Solstice.
I mean, I get it. Duty to the State and all that. But...
Save. End.
